In addition to the
tableware ranges supplied, we also deal in collectable, decorative
pieces. These are mainly, but not exclusively, from the Denby Pottery.
In the 1920s Denby expanded its ornamental ranges and in 1923
established a decorating department under the pottery decorator Albert
Colledge. The ensuing 'Danesby' stoneware ranges were very successful
and included 'Electric Blue', 'Orient Ware', 'Regent Pastel', 'Pastel
Blue' amongst others. During the 1930s Denby attracted a number of
designers including artist and sculptor Donald Gilbert, a graduate of
the Royal College of Art, and Austrian refugee Alice Teichner whose
vigorous designs pre-dated the style of the 1950s. Other influential
designers followed - Glyn Colledge (Albert's son), Hungarian Tibor
Reich, Kenneth Clark and Gill Pemberton amongst them. Of these, Glyn Colledge is
probably most associated with the Denby image during the 1950s and
1960s, producing ranges such as 'Glyn Ware', 'Glyndebourne', 'Glynbourne' and
'Cheviot'.
